Create a Destiny Engage book club – for students

Destiny Engage book clubs turn reading into a social activity, where students encourage each other to meet reading goals. You can also set one up to track a personal reading goal.

Notes: Your school must have a subscription to Destiny Engage and the appropriate access enabled. To learn how teachers and librarians create book clubs, see Create a Destiny Engage book club – for teachers and librarians.

1. From the sidebar, click Book Club.
2. Select My clubs > Create Book Club.
   
   
3. In the Overview section:
   
   1. Enter a club name and a description (optional).
   2. Under Reading options, select one of the following:
      • Members choose what to read: Students can choose their own titles from the site's catalog.
      • Members are assigned what to read: Students must choose titles from the assigned list.
   3. Enter a Read by date.
   4. From the Remind members to start and complete this book club drop-down, select a frequency.
4. In the Titles section, do any of the following:

   

   • Search for a title to add, and then click . Repeat for each title you want to add.
   • To remove a title, from the Available titles or Selected titles tab, click next to the title.

     

     Notes:  You can also add a title to a new or existing book club from the homepage, search results, or when viewing title information. If Members choose what to read is selected, students can add the titles they want to read to the book club.

5. If you want to invite other students, in the Members section, do any of the following:
   • Search for a name, and then click Invite. Repeat for each student you want to add.
   • From the Selected tab, see a list of club members. To remove one, click Remove.

     Note: Students you invite will see a notification in the Destiny Discover header.

6. Do one of the following:
   • To save the club as a draft, click Save draft.
   • To make the club active, click Activate club.

   Notes: You can save a book club as a draft without completing all required information. Access active, draft, and closed (completed) clubs by going to Book Club > My clubs.

Edit a book club

1. From the sidebar, click Book Club.
2. From the My clubs tab, click the club you want to edit.
3. From the Actions menu on the right side of the page, click Edit club.
   
4. Make any changes, and then click Save.

   Note: Participants are notified of any changes to the name, date, or book list.
